The Sacramento Region Higher
Education Coalition can help employers plan a successful Education Fair
that shows employees you care about helping them reach their career
goals. Whether your company or organization pays for employee
education or not, you can encourage employees to upgrade their skills
and knowledge by holding an Education Fair. Because the coalition
includes all accredited colleges and universities in the Sacramento area
that serve working adults, employees can quickly learn about the
educational opportunities open to them whether it's a quick course or
two or an accelerated undergraduate or graduate degree program.
Coalition Education Fairs
have been held at a variety of companies and municipalities including:
Kaiser, SMUD, Allied Insurance, Blue Shield, Bank of America, USAA
Insurance, Franklin Templeton, Ed Fund, Apple Computer, VSP, the State
Franchise Tax Board, the State of California, the County of Sacramento
and the cities of Sacramento, West Sacramento, Rocklin and Roseville.
All it takes is one
telephone call to reach every member of the coalition. If you would like
help organizing an Education Fair, the coalition can provide you with a
checklist that covers all aspects of planning and advertising your
event.
Members of the coalition are
available to conduct information meetings on-site and, should there be
sufficient interest, hold classes at your workplace. Members are also
available to speak to groups on adult education related topics.

"The California Department of Social Services is constantly striving to bring quality educational resources to our staff. In keeping with our commitment to our employees we started collaborating with other departments within our agency to organize an agency wide Education Fair. We had absolutely no idea where to start or how to go about contacting educational organizations - until we contacted the Sacramento Region Higher Education Coalition.
Nora Anderson and the folks at the Coalition were helpful, organized and very customer service oriented. Ten educational institutions were represented at our fair and the response from our employees was overwhelmingly positive. The Coalition worked closely with our Training and Development office to support our organizational policies and bring a consistent message, regarding higher education, to our employees.
Our Education Fair was a success and we are currently looking into bringing the fair to our employees on an annual basis. ."

What are they? An opportunity for employees to learn about all the varieties of educational programs in the area that have classes scheduled for working adults
Why have one? · To show you care about your employees’ careers · To encourage employees to continue their education · To retain and retrain good employees
When and where are they held? · During the lunch hour period, usually from 11:30 to 1:30 · Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are the best days · A central location at the work site works well
How can we have one?
